Inauguration of ZAO, CBDT at Indore

The newly created Zonal Accounts Office of CBDT was formally inaugurated on 07th September 2012 at Indore (MP) by the Controller General of Accounts Shri Jawahar Thakur .

The CGA was accorded a warm welcome by Shri S.K. Mishra, CCIT, Indore. CGA, first lighted the traditional lamp and then unveiled the plaque in the presence of Shri Pradeep Berwah, CCA, CBDT, Shri S.K. Mishra, CCIT and Shri Sakesh Prasad Singh, Dy. CGA, .

Welcoming the guests Shri Berwah said that this was truly a historic moment because after 1976 this was the second ZAO being opened in Madhya Pradesh. He outlined the initiatives undertaken for re-structuring the setup of Pr.CCA, CBDT office under the leadership of former Pr. CCA, CBDT and the current CGA Shri Jawahar Thakur. It was under his dynamic leadership that the organization was strengthened with the addition of 28 ZAOs to the existing strength of 24 ZAOs and 41 new FPUs. More than 450 posts of various levels were also created and sanctioned for implementing the re-structuring of accounting organization of CBDT. ZAO Indore is a part of this unique initiative. Shri S K Mishra in his address said that it was the personal interest and dynamism of Shri Thakur that led to the sorting out of the matter of housing the new ZAO. S.P. Singh in his speech outlined the role of the

CGA’s office and said that based on the same pattern, re-structuring of various departments is under way.

In his key note address CGA congratulated the CBDT on starting ZAO Indore. He then delved on the benefits of e-payment which will help PAOs across the country in making swift and effective payments and speed up accounting procedures. On the subject of challenges, he stressed the need for effective monitoring of the Central Plan Monitoring Schemes (CPSMS). He also touched on the issue of Pensioners and asked for the matter to be dealt with utmost concern. He said that a person who serves the country for a major portion of his life should not suffer due to administrative reasons. He also spelt out his vision of paperless technology and effective management of accounting procedures. Closing his speech he talked about the need to build a better working environment with sensitivity towards personal needs and empathy in dealing with the staff.
